Thom Yorke: "This Is True Evil"
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has communicated his frustration over the UN's forthcoming environmental debate and the UK government's newly announced nuclear charter.
Speaking on the band's Dead Air Space online diary, Yorke commented,
"So the UN are meeting in Montreal to decide what to do after the Kyoto protocol. And already the US administration has buried its witless head in the f*cking sand. Refusing to take part.
"You can even see the strings being pulled. This is a true evil. And on TV they are talking about the Sahara and how global warming will destroy the lives of the millions who live there soon.
"Oh and the weather man says how we've got caught out by the extreme snowfall. Highly unusual. Cue footage of stranded motorists. But hey it'll be nice for kids. Cue taboganning footage."
Yorke also turned his razor sharp tongue toward the UK's own political leaders and the result of their recent energy supply discussions.
"And business leaders are meeting Tony Blair tommorrow [sic] to express their concern about gas supplies. F*ck business leaders what about the rest of us?
"If ever [sic] property in the country had solar panels or mini wind turbines, just like it has water supply and a satelltie [sic] dish perhaps we wouldn't need new nuclear power stations that we can't afford to please these f*cking business leaders.
"P.S. Please excuse the swearing. I'm mad."
The follow-up to 'Hail To The Thief' seems to be progressing well with the band recording "a song a day" in their Oxfordshire studio. The band will be in the studio again this week before breaking until December. From there, they start recording again until Christmas.
The working titles leaked to the site include 'Rubbernecks', 'Solutions', 'Pig's Ear', 'Burn The Witch', Morning Mi' Lord', 'Reckoner', 'Arpeggi' and 'House Of Cards', the track performed solo by Thom Yorke at April's Trade Justice rally.
The Radiohead album is set for release some time in 2006.
